Today's big adventures mainly consisted of taking journeys through some good books with the kids.
It was a beautifully calm day.
I did go on a nice gratitude walk of my own, and got a nap in before going to Zumba tonight, so that was awesome!
Alex had Boy Scouts tonight and on the way over to drop him off, we heard this silly song I used to love as a kid.
I can actually remember my love for this song as a young girl, and can picture me singing it as I danced outside around my parents' cars (which were always hand me downs or interesting used cars we somehow acquired).
It is a country song and it is called, "There Ain't Nothing Wrong With The Radio."
If you are my age and listened to country music when you were a kid, you probably have heard it.
Here is a link to the song if you want to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgMMsIsW4p8
And here are the lyrics: http://www.metrolyrics.com/there-aint-nothin-wrong-with-the-radio-lyrics-aaron-tippin.html
And here is why I am sharing, lol:
This song is probably the best display of optimism I have seen (or I guess heard) today.
This guy's car is falling apart and it fails him on multiple occasions. It even leads him stranded on the side of the road.
But you know what? He doesn't care!
You know why? Because he has found the one thing about this car that he LOVES, and it is the thing that works, and it is thing that keeps him and the car going.
And he LOVES that one part so much he even wrote a song and is now singing about it. He is choosing happiness!
Call me crazy for picking such a simple and fun song apart, and turning it into some sort of happiness metaphor, but this is how life and love work.
Our lives can be so torn apart, and can lead to some pretty cruddy situations. But if we can just stop and look for the one thing that works, and the one thing we LOVE more than anything, we can still enjoy everything else.
So now that I have this piece of childhood nostalgia stuck in my head, and maybe in your head too, I am going to get ready for bed.
Thank you all for reading. You guys are the best and I love you always.
Find your radio and love your life. <3
And please keep praying for our world. Pray for our country. Pray for my family. Pray for me. Pray for you! And always always pray for my sweet sweet Elijah.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Hi sweet boy.
Tonight when the boys were choosing books to read,
Gabriel picked all of your books and said he wanted to read them to you.
It was so bittersweet.
I love that he includes you in everything.
I think you guys have a bond like no other.
I am so happy these boys are your brothers.
I am so happy you are ours.
We love and miss you so much.
Always.
<3
