Kids are bathed. Kids are fed. Kids have been read to. Kids are in are in bed. I feel like I deserve an award. lol.
How was everyone's day today? Did you do anything adventurous?
Today the kids and I took a gratitude walk.
It sounds super cheesy, but I promise you if you are in a bad mood, it is a great way to get out of a funk.
It is also a great way to change your kids' mood, or to teach them more about appreciation!
"Sounds great!" you say, "But what is it?"
A gratitude walk is simply going on a walk and either talking about or thinking about all the things you are thankful for.
I have also heard of people taking gratitude walks where they just take pictures of the beautiful things they find as they are walking.
On our walk today, the kids and I took turns talking about the things we love or the things we were thankful for.
It ranged from things like Lego and toys, to things like sunshine and oxygen. Of course we said we were thankful for each other, and we also made sure that we included Elijah too! He is still a very important part of our family after all.
It was quite a walk too! I used my charity miles app to track our miles and donate them to Every Mother Counts as our act of kindness for Elijah, and we walked 2.91 miles! That is a pretty big distance for a 5 and 7 year old.
And because we love an adventure, this was no ordinary walk! We tried to visit with some cows along the way and even visited an old torn down church and cemetery.
Here are some pictures of the boys and I making this simple walk into a big adventure:
One of our signs for Elijah are hearts. Whenever I see a heart in nature or randomly placed, I like to think that Elijah is saying "hello!" |
More hearts! "Hi Elijah."
There is always something to be thankful for, and adventure is always just around the corner.
Maybe tomorrow you can do your own gratitude walk!!! It does not have to be a 2.9 mile walk down an old dirt road. It can be a walk from your car to work, or a walk around your neighborhood in the afternoon. Just take time to move, get outside, and be thankful.
Alright, I am going to go take a bath and read. Sending you all love and sweet dreams. Go get out there and change the world for my baby boy. I miss him so much, but I know that great things are being done in his name and I couldn't be more proud!!!
And please continue to pray for our world. Pray for our country. Pray for me. Pray for you! And always always pray for my sweet Elijah <3
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Oh sweet boy.
I know you love your brothers so much.
We saw so many hearts today while out on our walk.
I bet you were shining down and laughing at their silliness.
I bet if you were here you would put all their silliness to shame.
I love and miss you more than you could ever imagine.
We all do.
Always.
<3
