A friend of mine messaged me on Facebook earlier telling me that she had just left a gas station in Natchitoches and there was a girl there standing with a sign that read, "I Used to Be Someone."
My friend had already spoke to the girl and found out she was living in her car. My friend also bought her some food and water. My friend simply asked if maybe I could help by offering the young woman some information about services available in the area. (my friend doesn't live here)
I really wanted to help, so after putting Julien to sleep, I looked up the number for a domestic abuse shelter (just in case) and I headed out to find her.
Sadly, I did not find her.
Or maybe she found the help she was looking for and it is a good thing I didn't find her.... I don't know.
So tonight, I just want you guys to take a moment (if you want or if you can) and send this girl some love and/or prayers. Because whether she was just homeless and down on her luck, escaping an abusive relationship, an addict, or a "fake," she is not the person she used to be; and she needs love.
"I used to be someone."
I feel the weight of those words. They are so real to me, it is unsettling.
Sending you all love tonight. And extra love to the girl who was standing at the gas station, just trying to figure it all out. I know your pain.
Please keep praying for our world. Pray for our country. Pray for my family. Pray for me. Pray for you! And always always pray for my sweet Elijah.
Thank you.
Shine some love down Elijah.
I'm sure you know where it is needed.
I love and miss you so much.
Always.
