I have many different passions. One of my favorites is writing. I love using my imagination to write and inspire children. Today I want to introduce you guys to a friend of mine who helped me with the creation of "Elijah Smiles." She is a Children's book publisher and is known as The Belletristic Wander. I am going to share some information she sent about herself and some of the books she is working on. Enjoy <3
Also check out her Kickstarter and show her some love and support!
"The one most significant thing that has changed my life more than anything else, has been learning how to read. I am who I am because of what I have read.
I have always loved books! My mother read several books to me every day, but that wasn't enough, so I learned to read before I started kindergarten.
There was no greater reward than being able to read a good book!
I read every book in the school library. My wonderful mother would check out over 100 books every 3 weeks when we went to the library. Growing up, and living in a handful of different places, I ended up reading whole libraries of books.
I am the second oldest, and have several younger brothers and sisters. As my mother got more and more kids, she had less and less time to read to each one of them.. She still read several picture books to us a day as well as chapter books over a couple of weeks, but I felt sorry for my younger siblings who couldn't read, and so I was the one that ended up reading those hundreds of picture books to them.
about 5 years after leaving home, I started having kids of my own, and continued the tradition. Because I love reading so much, but having several small kids kept me from having time to read very many longer books, I connected with my kids by reading picture books to them.
When I graduated from college in education, I had 2 small kids and figured I would be a stay at home mom for a while and continue my education and career when my kids were older. It wasn't until almost 20 years later, with lap-fulls of toddlers I had read to, that I realized that what I had always really wanted to do in my heart was to write books. I have always held authors in great awe. Authors like Victor Hugo have touched the lives of so many people, even long after they have been dead. To be able to do that, would be the highest honor.. the most enjoyable of all the ways to share oneself with others! I also realized that those who make it possible for author's books to come forth to the world, publishers... I held them in such esteem that I had never realized that I could possibly be one.. a little like the ugly duckling. (I was the outcast during my school years).
And lastly, I realized that all those years that I had thought I had been putting my career on hold, I had actually been doing the best possible thing to prepare me to work with children's books. I had been in the trenches.. I was the one that read The Very Hungry Caterpillar with one eye open, and Brown Bear Brown Bear with both eyes shut, as I tried to comfort a sick child in the middle of the night. I had more hands on experience with children and picture books than anybody I knew, and all in actual situations that they really are read in!
What I would like to do most, is to have the opportunity to bring the best books there are, to existence, and get them into as many libraries as possible, where the most people can enjoy them. I love books, and I love libraries. If it weren't for libraries, I would never have had the opportunity to fall in love with books as much as I have. Neither my mom nor myself have ever had any extra money to purchase very many books. Libraries are the last outpost of freedom in the world. The media, our entertainment, what we read, influences us so much. With libraries, books that may not appeal to those who can afford books, or the majority crowd, can still be brought into existence and made available to people. Only through libraries can our culture be equally be influenced by all voices"

"Charlie and the Hot Air Balloon
Nerris Nassiri is a pilot and film maker (he has worked for Disney)
He decided to try his hand at a picture book, and we are all very fortunate that he did. This book is sure to touch the deepest parts of the hearts of those who read it. It is about family, love, determination, and sacrifice. I can't think of a better book to recommend to anybody.
Here is the first critique we got back on it:

"Okay
I am actually crying.
Like fully ugly crying
Well done
It’s beautiful
When I have recovered I will try and see if I can offer anything more constructive than this"
As a film maker, Nerris Nassiri is going to make a short film of the book after it is released.
Here are some of his film he has already made as examples of how touching his stories are and how incredible his talent is!

Rumtum the Sailor Rumtum the Sailor is a larger than life adventure of a father who sets sail, but ends up on a deserted island. Even though he has almost nothing on the island with him (just one oar that happens to wash up), he is determined to keep his promise to his family and be home in time for supper. It is also the story of "Stow-a-way" a mischievous octopus that shares all of Rumtum's adventures, without Rumtum ever even knowing he is there!
Beneath the humor and rollicking rhyme of this book, the core feelings of love for his family and the taste of fantasy as he accomplishes the impossible, will touch the heart of the reader.
Kyle Duffy is a new father, who decided to write nursery rhymes for his daughter when he got bored of reading her the traditional ones. His inate ability to write in rhyme, with bouncing rhythm, make his books likely to be the next big thing in board books. With pictures by the increadibly talented Mary Manning, who flawlessly combines laughter and whimsy, these books are likely to become a household name, much like Mo Willems, Sandra Boynton, or even Dr. Seuss!
