Quick update on the family:
School has started and my Julien is now in Kindergarten!!! Where did time go?
(He is so stinking cute!)
He is attending a Montessori school, which I am super excited about.
For those of you not familiar with The Montessori approach to schooling, it is "characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montessori_education).
It's perfect for Julien's personality, and from what I hear, the founders of Google both attended a Montessori elementary as well ;)
Here's a great youtube video to explain more:
Also, Alex (our oldest) has started a new curriculum for homeschooling this year, and so far I am really loving it. It is much more interactive and exciting for him.
ANNNNND probably the most exciting news is Gabriel is now Potty Trained :D :D :D
Yay!
Okay, now to talk about next month's project.
I have changed the idea of The Giving Tree once again.
While I would love to continue the idea of the mobile thrift shop, right now I am lacking the storage space in my home, and the personal time it takes to commit to such a project.
HOWEVER, notice that I did not say I was quitting, but merely changing the idea..
So for now, it will just be a once a month, do something nice for the community type of deal. (More fancy and specific wording to come soon...and an updated blog page as well).
This month we did the fantastic Back to School Celebration at the Library with the Disney Characters and free school supplies. Remember that?
It was pretty awesome, and I was extremely thrilled with the outcome.
This month, I have decided to do a "Save the Planet September."
If you can remember from our "Kind Hart in America Trip" from earlier this year, we picked up 540 pieces of trash on just one street in 2 days.
Well, Save The Earth September is a continuance of that idea...
Not only will I be picking up litter on a daily basis, I will be educating myself (and you guys) on more ways to be "Earth Friendly."
I am really excited about this Giving Tree Project. Maybe because I am an Earth Day Baby, or maybe because I just believe we have been given this planet, and its a beautiful gift, and we should really appreciate it!
Alright, I have a six day work week starting tomorrow and I need some sleep. Goodnight everyone.
Be kind,
Kelly Airhart
