937: A Lesson in Patience

It is 9:59pm.

I am seriously contemplating turning on the heater in the bus right now, because it is getting a little chilly in here. OH weather--you can be so fun sometimes.

So remember yesterday when I said that I was taking the boys to the Alligator Park with their Easter money? Well, turns out the Alligator Park is only open on weekends.

You guys should have seen how disappointed they were. After running errands all morning with me, being pretty well behaved, and helping me clean my car so they could see alligators, I had some really upset boys on my hands.

I managed to appease them a little while with some cows on the other side of the road, but apparently cows behind a fence are not nearly as exciting as alligators in a park. Who knew?

So after some passive aggressive Facebook complaining (which I later removed), I decided that we would go to Kisatchie Bayou and go swimming. It was actually warm enough and I had a little bit of cash to buy one of those blow up floatie rings so the boys could ride "the rapids." We went home, grabbed the dog and our swimsuits, aired up the floatie and drove all the way out to the middle of nowhere only to find out that the Bayou was closed too.

But I am really proud of us, because you know what? No one cried. There was some pouting, but no one broke down and cried--and by no one I totally mean me.

Quickly, I suggested that we go to our favorite hiking trail, start from the end and go to the little creek that we adore playing in with our GIANT donut flotation devise. The boys were a little hesitant because they were sure it would be closed too, but decided to try anyways because it was either that or go home. (Okay, okay, we are not always positive peppy people...)

So we did the hike backwards, enjoyed the sunshine, and left just in time to miss a giant thunderstorm. AND we had a blast.

I hope that my kids learned something today. I think that we all learned some patience. However, sometimes patience is more than just sitting around waiting for something to go right. Sometimes it is trying again and again without giving up, and maybe (just maybe) you will find the fun.

Alright, I'm all tapped out on "wisdom" for today, and really really need a bath. Sending you all lots of love.

Go change the world! Do it for Elijah.

Thank you.

I LOVE this picture of you Elijah.
It always make me smile.
You silly boy.
I love and miss you so so so much.
Always

It is 8:49am. Everyone is still asleep... I have my "happy light" shining into my  peripheral  vision, and my vitamins and medic...
