Big steps!

Good morning to all!

It is a quiet 8:46 am in my townhouse. I haven't even cranked up Pandora in hopes that everyone will continue to sleep just a little bit longer--and if you know me, you know how much I love my morning music. However, it is quite rare as a mom of three boys, that my house is ever quiet. So to celebrate I am enjoying the silence by enjoying a slice of left over pizza from last night's very first "Kindness Crusaders" meeting.

(Just breaking: I had to run to Julien's school because he was sick, and now all the kids are up, and it is noisy again. Lol. I told you, this momma doesn't get a quiet house very often--and now at 10:08am I can finally continue my blogging.)

Last year's trip, "Kind Hart in America," was a great journey, but we faced many challenges. Even though I am extremely pleased with our journey, it was one that I learned a lot from. This year I decided to branch out and get more help, to make our outreach larger, and our trip more successful. So this year, I decided to enlist the help from some friends!

At the meeting last night, I met with two of my good friends. Amy, Katie, and I talked about fundraising for our "Coast to Coast Kindness" trip and talked about the importance of proper planning for the travels ahead in June. I think we have some pretty cool ideas that will make all involved in fundraising quite happy.

One idea for fundraising was Magical Mystery Mickey Bags. These bags will be $5 a piece and each bag will be filled with candies and goodies. HOWEVER, some of these bags will contain things like gift certificates, gas cards, and a few very special bags will even contain tickets to Walt Disney World! We will be selling these at farmers markets, and hopefully a few festivals or arts and crafts shows between now and June (and possibly Etsy).

We also talked about how I would really like to turn this whole blog and "kindness crusaders" into a nonprofit. With that being said, our first fundraising goal will really be to raise the money needed for doing just that.

I am working on the mission statement, but our nonprofit will be all about promoting kindness in the community. We would have monthly organized acts of kindness, community outreach meetings, motivational speaking, and a website where people can post their stories of kindness and support each other. Our yearly campaigns for Kindness across America will also be included in our nonprofit. It is a work in progress. The cost for start up for a nonprofit will cost us around $981.00 if done via legalzoom.com, so it will take quite a bit of fundraising.

(Again, If you would like to help, there is a donation tab at the righthand top of the page...nudge nudge...wink wink...please and thank you!!!)

I will keep you updated, and I am really excited about all these great things that are happening. For now, I have 3 eager boys who need my time and attention. So off to Michaels to get a science experiment to work on, as promised.

Thanks always for reading!

Be Kind,
Kelly Airhart

1,520 days: Overwhelm.

It is 8:49am. Everyone is still asleep... I have my "happy light" shining into my  peripheral  vision, and my vitamins and medic...
