Morning Trash Talk...

As I sit here while the little one's eat breakfast (Alex is gone on a sleepover), I am thinking about how I really need to get up and get out to pick up some trash before I have to go to work....and then I think how weird of a thought that really is...lol.

But, as I mentioned before, I have committed myself to my "Save the planet September" plan of picking up trash everyday in the month of September.

It's not quite the flashy and elaborate type of blogging experience I would have hoped for, but I really do believe that it has made some small difference.

I have picked up over 2,000 pieces of trash this month- and that number is steadily increasing.

Did you know that annually, as Americans, we spend BILLIONS of dollars on trash pickup alone?

Cigarette butts are the leading item volunteers and city workers collect.

The link below is a really great news report on the effects of littering:

Litterbug is a really great website too, with statistics and ways to help:

There are plenty of great literature out there to inspire you! However, you are the one who has to make the choice to either stop the littering, or start picking it up.

So as I go sweat my behind off picking up trash in my neighborhood this morning, I sincerely hope that it makes you think about getting up and picking some up some trash in your neighborhood as well. (or at a park, the beach, a parking lot...wherever!!!)

Alright, before I go outside and pick up trash, I wanted to thank you for all the kind words and encouragement as we gear up for our next big journey of 1,000 acts of kindness!

That's right! This June we will set out from beautiful Walt Disney World here in Orlando, Fl and head out across the country spreading kindness all the way to Disney Land California!

Here is just a little act of kindness that Alex and I did the other day to celebrate our announcement!

Enjoy:)

Time to go "Save The Planet!"

Thanks always for reading :)

Be kind,
Kelly Airhart

It is 8:49am. Everyone is still asleep... I have my "happy light" shining into my  peripheral  vision, and my vitamins and medic...
