Slow and Steady wins the Race

Sometimes I swear I know the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" all to well.

In fact, it seems to be my life.

I am currently in a position at work that is really awkward. There is really no consistency in schedule, or pay, and there are many days where I have no idea what I am going to be doing, even as I am walking in from the parking lot.

It gets overwhelming. I get bitter. I am not perfect.

It is something I have been working on.

I can't tell you how many times I have been passed up by rabbits. Stunning creatures who seem to know the trick of racing to the top a lot faster than me.
What I have to keep telling myself is, "good for them."

And while it is hard...it is oh so hard...I have to mean it.

"Good for them."

After all, it is good.

I can't honestly think of one person who has gone ahead of me, that wasn't a deserving person.

And even if I don't understand the path they are on, in the end it really doesn't matter--because it's not my path.

Does this really make it an easier to be told no time and time again? Well, that is a whole other story.

But the beauty of The Tortoise is that he is not concerned with the rabbits of the world, he just keeps going. And eventually, he gets to that glorious finish line--winning the race.

I just need to keep moving forward, and eventually I will find my place at the finish line as well.

Speaking of moving forward, I have made some more progress on my journey as a first time author!

It's slow, but it is steady, so I am confident that in time, I will be more than happy with the efforts I have made.

Well poor Julien isn't feeling well again... so I am going to go check on him once more before he goes to sleep.

Hope you all have a great night.

Thanks for reading :)

Be Kind,
Kelly Airhart

1,520 days: Overwhelm.

It is 8:49am. Everyone is still asleep... I have my "happy light" shining into my  peripheral  vision, and my vitamins and medic...
