I just wrapped up my second draft of Elijah's Smiles Change the World. I am feeling much better after speaking to an editor I have been working with. She said her and her children love the book and the illustrations. And she gave me some pointers to really "clean up" the story. It is so wonderful to have positive guidance.
I still have some work to do, but I still feel like I am going to be able to make my goals on kickstarter and release dates--if the universe aligns and my tax returns come in so I can pay for marketing lol.
I am really excited because this Friday I am getting my hair cut and my roots professionally done. If I am going to pay for marketing myself--I should probably invest in being marketable. Now to find something to wear and write a script for my kickstarter video.
And you guys thought writing a book was hard work? lol. This is just the beginning....
In order for this book to be the success I want it to be, I have to make a big deal about the launch.
I am going to raise the money in my kickstarter to market where I need to, do a "virtual" book tour, a physical book tour, and the ultimate goal is a booth at Book Con in New York.
Book Con alone is going to cost me just over $2000. And that is just the booth. That doesn't even begin to cover the cost of having books on hand, or promotional products to hand out.
The saying, "It takes Money to make money," is true.
This will be a challenge, but it is possible. I believe that if I invest in myself, and a little bit of advertising in the right places, I will get the support I need.
Oh, and today is Valentine's Day...lol.
I am extremely thankful to have my husband to celebrate another year to love.
We are pretty low key on celebrating I guess.
We ate pizza and I told him he is pretty lol. But for most of the day, I have just been working on this book. Maybe next year we will have an actual date night...
Hoping all of you are feeling loved and adored on this Valentine's Day. Start with loving yourself--then you really can't go wrong. I love you all!
Keep praying for our world. Pray for our Earth. Pray for each other. Pray for our families. Pray for our children. Pray for hope. Pray for peace. Pray for love. And always always pray for my sweet sweet Elijah.
Thank you.
Happy Valentine's Day sweet boy.
I hope you know how much we love and miss you around here.
Always.
